The relationship drama in Winx Club is getting out of hand. There are so many unnecessary plotlines like the accusation of cheating, Diaspro still not getting over Sky, Helia having a childhood friend that made Flora jealous…why? Why can’t the couples in this show grow together for once? Why do all of these dramas have to be repeated over and over again?

Riven for example had a lot of character development in S1 and then it was erased and he was blamed for every argument in his relationship. I need others (and especially the writers) to know that relationships work both ways. You can’t just blame one party for everything that went wrong. Riven did a lot of good things as well, but he still gets blame for everything. Why does no one talk about Musa and how she needs to put effort into this relationship as well? She said he didn’t care about her enough in S3, didn’t trust him in S5, was mad for no reason in S8 when he returned, etc. BOTH need to grow and need to do it together.

I’m staying out of MuRi discourse, but fucking hell have the relationships between the Winx and Specialists degraded.

One could argue it was especially bad in 4, but I can overlook it when other parts of Winx Club piss me off more from 5.

MuRi discourse aside, this is the single biggest reason I can’t stand Winx Club anymore. They can do so many new things, claim they changed the show for a new younger audience, but they can’t let everyone have healthy relationships? Relationship drama is probably the one consistent thing through all eight seasons, and that’s not something to take pride in.

Healthy relationships aren’t peaceful 100% of the time, but this drama is the same nonsense every season. And does no one know what communication is?!

Everything in kid shows like Miraculous Ladybug or Winx Club etc. is NOT always going to go the fandom’s way all the time like they so desperately want, but as long as they are not hurting anyone else, is it really wrong to want something else to happen besides what is happening, even from a kids show? Is it wrong to dream?

I just feel like people these days can’t even hope for or want something better from a show without someone saying “it’s for kids” or “Don’t like? Don’t watch”. Like, ok, we get it? But is it really wrong for a show to strive to be better than what it is? Is it really wrong to improve? I’m really starting to think that people only use those excuses so those kind of shows won’t change because it’s “fine the way it is” or they just want people to shut up because THEY personally don’t think it’s nothing wrong with the show.

Well, an opinion is an opinion for a reason. People have the right to be disappointed in something that happens in a show”.

“It’s for kids” is all the more reason to criticize! My personal beef with Winx Club is the creator claims “complex plots” are too mature for kids. But somehow, a love triangle and an on/off toxic relationship (Musa and Riven) is a-okay for kids’ eyes. WTF?

“Lolirock should’ve been the next big western magical girl show like the way Winx Club was/is. It does a good job representing the genre and is a good gateway to the magical girls’ genre.”

This is so true. The show is honestly so underrated. The characters are amazing, the story is amazing, the animation is amazing,..

I don’t understand why it hasn’t become more popular…

Because it’s a cliche storm.

I like LoliRock, but its issue is, overall, it doesn’t bring much, if anything, new to the table of the MG genre. The general consensus among fans is it’s fairly average and anyone who’s seen any previous magical show show can find the same stuff here. In fact, the most praised thing about it is the art and animation. That’s bad.

It likely doesn’t help that the one of the trio most focused on - Iris - is somewhat vanilla in comparison to the other two.

“I’m one of those fans who feel it should’ve ended after the first movie and Enchantix is my favorite because of how it’s earned (through a sacrifice; in other words, selflessness). But season four is my favorite season (minus Nabu’s death), I love almost every transformation throughout the series, and there are some things I do like of the later seasons like bringing back previous characters (Daphne, Miele, etc) and finally showing us Tecna’s and Flora’s parents, and Tecna’s homeworld. The only thing I really, really hate is all the relationship drama, but I’ve hated that since season 1. I guess I’m saying I don’t know where I stand with the fandom. Am I a fan? A semi-fan?”

“The Winx fandom is lowkey insane. Especially after they made Eliot (who’s going to play Terra in the Winx Live Action) delete her Instagram, because of the bullying done by the Winx fandom? Are they crazy? Don’t they realize Eliot is chosen for a reason? If she made it through the casting, she was worth it. It’s ok to have an opinion. But to lash out your frustration at the actress is just… mean!”

@omg-whydidimakethisaccount exactly I agree. …not to mention that this whole “they’re only haters” argument the fandom loves pushing out is nothing more than a gaslighting tactic to avoid dealing with the actual issue of whitewashing that exists in the live action as well as the TV series. This is nothing more than the fandom excuse not to deal with the actual issues at hand. This confession is nothing more than gaslighting. If anyone is still falling for this argument then they’re being wilfully obtuse.

But none of that justifies bullying an actress, or anyone. The whitewashing problem is not the actress’s fault. There’s also a big problem that’s seen as an appropriate way to deal with your anger.

I still haven’t forgiven Flora for how she treated her sister in episode 7x06.

Putting aside she was a hypocrite (for crying out loud, she was knocked down and out four episodes prior!), it was unnecessary to hurt Miele like that. Then, when Miele saves them from DYING OF POISON, all she gets is a half-hearted apology and scolded for being “reckless” (which she certainly wasn’t; does Flora know what reckless means?). Flora seemed a bit short-tempered with Helia and Amarok for about half of season 7 for no reason, but that particular episode with Miele is what knocked her off my favorites list.”

Yikes.

This is my confession, but I submitted it at least a year ago! I forgot all about it!

I don’t watch Winx anymore (I finished season 7, and I sincerely hated it as a whole aside from some minor things), but I no longer feel like this. I still don’t like how Flora treated Miele in that episode, but she’s back in my personal good graces. XD

I still think she had a chip on her shoulder for the first half of season 7, but it seems the writing is all over the place with Winx Club. I know Miele is inexplicably a child again in season 8. Of all the “retcons”, aging down a character is one of the strangest.

know what i really liked about the early seasons of Winx? that even tho the girls were into dressing up and were super there for The Looks™, a) they generally dressed like human beings and b) sometimes they had legit ugly clothes that looked really comfy and realistic and practical and just not trying to be stylish at all… like:

“hey! let’s go to the jungle wearing fucking stilettos because this is season 1,354,556!”

image

going to bed? (also man they lost the ability to draw flat feet)

image

wintery mission?

image

“just going to the gym in high heel boots as you do”

image

seriously let my girls be comfy and ugly again

image

I thought I was the only one who got bothered by their fashion in later seasons. It’s extremely unrealistic and colorful to an unnecessary extend. Sometimes less IS more

Those particular early season outfits (in my opinion) aren’t even ugly! I think Bloom’s season 6 (?) snowsuit is a bit realistic in design. The problem is the waist. Real life winter coats are not form-fitting. That would ruin their purpose.

But I agree. It’s ironic that their clothes are supposed to be more fashionable now, but they’re also less individualistic.
